Overview This wonderful camping trip in the famous Chobe National Park of Botswana, known for its elephants, starts either from Victoria Falls Zimbabwe, Livingstone Zambia or a Kasane Botswana hotel/lodges. From Chobe's northeastern entry gate, it’s less than 100 km to Victoria Falls and Livingstone. Chobe National Park is the ideal location for any tourist interested in a combination of the natural wonder of Victoria Falls, and magnificent wildlife sightings. The nearest town to the park is Kasane. Day 1: Transfer to Chobe National Park At 07h00, clients are picked up from their respective hotels/lodges and are escorted through the border formalities. A short briefing on some important facts, such as safety and some regional information, will follow. At 09h30, guests board the boat and commence on a 3-hour boat cruise into Chobe National Park. The river cruise is considered one of the highlights of the trip, as one gets the opportunity to get up close and personal with fantastic birdlife, hippos, and crocodiles. Of course, scores of elephant and Cape buffalo also make their way down to the river to quench their thirst. The boat cruise ends at the Coffee Buzz restaurant at 12h30. There is an opportunity to do last-minute shopping in Kasane, as there are no shops within the park. Guests then depart on an afternoon game drive at 1330hrs. This is the best time to see Chobe’s large herbivores making their way down to the river to drink. At around 1630hrs, guest will make their way to the campsite inside the Park. Overnight at the campsite with all meals and beverages included. Day 2: Chobe National Park Guests are woken at dawn with warm water being poured into their basins and a friendly Botswana greeting, “dumela” (good day). After a quick cup of tea or coffee and a light continental breakfast, vehicles head off on an early morning game drive. This time of day is best for finding the big cats or the rare wild dogs, as they are still active at this time, and chances of seeing them are good. Around mid to late morning, guests return to the camp for a delicious “bush brunch” and a siesta, getting an opportunity to read, rest or take a refreshing shower. When the day starts to cool off, another afternoon game drive follows. Chobe National Park has a wide variety of game, with the cats and large herbivores such as elephant and buffalo being the highlight. Rarer game such as puku, eland, sable and roan antelope, along with many more common antelope, can also be viewed here. Dinner follows, as always accompanied by the unforgettable sounds of the African night. Day 3: Chobe National Park Guests are again woken at dawn with warm water being poured into their basins and the friendly Botswana greeting, “dumela” (good day). After a quick cup of tea or coffee and some cereal, you head out on an early morning game drive. This time of day is best for finding the big cats as they are still active at this time and chances of seeing them are good. Around mid to late morning, guests return to camp for a delicious “bush brunch” and an opportunity to take a refreshing shower. After packing up, you then leave the camp for your last activity, which is usually another boat cruise. You will then be dropped off in Kasane/Kazungula at 16h30, and transferred to Victoria Falls Zimbabwe or Livingstone Zambia. This marks the end of our trip.
